This piece was created from a vintage 2 pane storm window. The original paint on the frame has been carefully sanded to reveal the current color combination of cream/ivory, some forest green, beige, and some raw wood. A clear finish coat has been applied. A paisley pattern in white, ochre/gold, blue, and green tones backs the top pane. The glass in the top pane has been hand painted with an original lettered design, inspired by small trattorias in Italy. "Via Panzani, 279" is a street address - this street is located in Florence, Italy (Firenze). The number chosen is fictional. "Pranzo e Cena" translates to "lunch and dinner." The bottom pane is fitted with green factory-made, magnetic porcelain coated steel chalkboard. Hand painted across the top in ivory is: "piatti del giorno," which means "daily specials."
