This artwork includes 2 pieces - each made from a vintage 6 pane window sash. The window frames have been refinished with dark stain, but signs of patina are still present as evidenced by rounded edges and corners, gouges and other imperfections. Some of the glass is original and has bubbles, waviness, and a subtle blue-green tint. Some of the glass panes have been replaced with salvaged old glass; the result is a subtle mixed effect with different glass tones.
Beneath these 2 windows, a large current world map has been cut in half - each window displays half of the map. The map is a sepia tone "antique style" map, with current cartography. (the close up photos display the color of this map most accurately). The following places have been hand painted onto the glass using black paint: Seattle, London, Los Angeles, Miami, Tahiti, Sao Paulo, Moscow, Tokyo, Athens, Shanghai, Cape Town, and Sydney. A great set of artwork for the traveler!
Windows measure 27-28" wide by 31" tall (each); when hung side by side with 1" between, the total width is roughly 56" x 31" tall. This item ships in 2 separate boxes. |
