Chicago World's Fair 1933 - window art
This special edition piece was created from a vintage semi-circular window.  The window was salvaged from a historic home in Galena, IL; the original glass is still intact.  The frame has been refinished with a dark stain.  The original lettered design has been hand painted in black.

The design was inspired by old signage from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair, which took place from May 31, 1933 - November 1, 1933.  The Fair was so successful that it was continued again from May 30, 1934 - October 31, 1934.  The fair was given the title "A Century of Progress".  Photos of literature from the fair also contained the motto "Science Finds, Industry Applies, Man Conforms".  The lettering was chosen to fit in with the art-deco era, which was just finishing around that time.
