This piece was created from a raised panel section of a vintage door.  The wood has been refinished with dark stain, however evidence of patina is still present through some uneven areas in the stain.  The original hole for the doorknob is still present also.  The lettering "Buon Natale" has been painted in ivory, and topped with a clear satin finish (Buon Natale = Merry Christmas in Italian).  Hangs using a horizontal keyhole slot routed into the back.  Several are available, so there may be slight differences in size and patina of each.  (picture may not show actual sign you receive).  Roughly 12.5-14.25" tall x 30.75" wide.
