1944 French Map Window Art - Shipping included!
This special edition piece was created from a large 2 pane storm window, with original wavy glass. The window came from a large craftsman style home in Morris, Illinois. The window sash frame was stripped & refinished with dark stain - however, patina is still apparent in the frame. The bottom of the frame has an original functioning air vent - an oval piece of wood that pivots on a decorative nail. The vent can be opened, revealing the original oval shaped hole in the frame (see additional photo section).
Displayed beneath the glass is a 1944 map of France, published by the Army Corps of Engineers. Sections above and below the map are backed with burlap. The map was originally folded into a paper booklet (see additional photos below). The title of the map has been painted onto the top and bottom of the glass (above & below the map). The top portion reads: Europe Road Map Series - France - 1944. The bottom portion reads: Army Map Service - Corps of Engineers, U.S. Army. The map itself is in fairly good condition, but does have some wrinkles & small tears along seams - which accent the overall character of this piece.
This piece will add history, character, and old world charm to your home! 39.75" wide x 55" tall. Mounting hardware included, along with the original cover to the map booklet. Freight shipping within the continental United States is also included in the purchase price.
If you are interested in purchasing this piece and live within the Chicago Metro area, a $200 rebate is available along with free local delivery.
