Post Office Message Center - $3895





This special edition piece combines several salvaged elements with some new wood to create one eye-catching, yet functional message center! The top of the piece was salvaged from an exterior front door. The middle portion with glass is from a salvaged door, turned 90 degrees. The P.O. Box doors are vintage, and each has it's own working combination (combos provided!). The columns on either side, the lower corbels, and the shelf section with "mailboxes" were built from new wood. See the link below for additional photos. The salvaged elements in the piece seemed distinctly American, and inspired the post office theme. Perhaps you might find something with the same grandeur in a big city post office during the early 20th century! The shelf section includes 6 functional P.O. Box doors with unique working combinations - which open to 6 separate mail boxes. The center compartment has a hinged door in the rear to store a power strip & cell phone chargers; run the end of each charger through the 2 notches in the bottom of the door. The glass is old safety glass, with wire running through it in a criss-cross pattern. The piece has been refinished using an antique-black paint treatment with metallic copper highlights. The piece separates into 3 sections for ease of transport and hanging. There is a wooden frame included which mounts to wall studs. The three sections each fit into slots in the frame. This piece measures roughly 61" wide, by 61" tall (from the top of the molding to the bottom of the corbels); projects roughly 10" from the wall. Price: $3895 Interested in purchasing this item?
