This antique mirror has been painted with an original design, inspired by big city hotels in the 1920-1930's. "Hotel Metropolitan" is fictional, as is the address (17 Madison Ave) - though Madison Ave is a real street in New York. The frame has been refinished with black paint & metallic accents. There is a raised rope design around the frame, however, some of the plaster is missing in several places. This mirror has a date stamp of 1919 on the back, and is very thick (1/4") and heavy. The mirror itself does have some patina - evident from slight haziness & a few scratches. (see close up photos) This is a great piece for over your mantle, dining room buffet table, dresser, or even in the bathroom!
