This piece was created from a vintage 2 pane window sash. The finish on the frame was achieved by carefully sanding the existing paint layers and sealing the finish with a clear coat. An interesting combination of sage green, pale yellow, ivory, and some raw wood is the result. The top pane is backed with a paisley pattern fabric in the same tones - soft sage green, yellow, some pale blue, and muted beige tones. The bottom pane of glass has been replaced with black factory made magnetic chalkboard. For more info on the chalkboard material used, click the link below. The lettering reads "Boulangerie" on top (this means Bakery in French), and "plats du jour" on the chalkboard (this means "daily specials" in French). The overall design was intended to be something that might be found in a small French bakery, perhaps one that serves lunch. Measures 24" tall x 32" wide. Hangs using 2 keyhole slots routed into either side of the frame. Chalkboard is fully functional and cleans easily with a damp rag. Use the chalkboard also as a magnet board.
